WHAT TRAVEL MEANS TO ME
I believe travel changes you
Every new place explored, every new culture discovered, and every new challenge defeated opens your mind in a way that you often never expected.
The incredible sunsets over spectacular scenery, the new and exciting tastes of the local street food, the fascinating insights and rituals of a culture so far from your own:
Travelling often allows you to discover a world that you never knew existed.
But the beauty of travel is that not every trip has to be so epic to be transformative: it can also be so blissfully simplistic.
After all, there’s nothing quite like taking a dip in that stunning infinity pool or relaxing in a hammock with a good book and a cocktail after a particularly stressful season.
Travelling for me, though, is about more than just ‘holidays’.
It’s about discovery, education, transformation, and of course – fun.
It’s about stories of child-raising with a widow in a desolate mountain village, hearing memories of a couple fleeing Venezuela over drinks in Colombia, and listening to business expansion dreams of a Nicaraguan local.
It’s about flying upside down through the forest, then watching a beautiful sunset on horseback.
It’s about driving a moped for the first time on one of the craziest journeys in Vietnam and teaching yourself to surf in questionably rough waters on a rugged surf beach.
Travel for me is living, experiencing and learning.
It is a powerful and impactful tool for opening your mind, fostering compassion and building resilience.
And travelling has been my biggest teacher, an incredible connector, and the source of many intensely happy memories.
It’s the reason I have not only learnt to surf, drive a moped and horse ride but also to snowboard, salsa dance and hike.
It’s also the reason that I have met and made memories with so many incredible people of all different backgrounds and beliefs.
If you asked me what my life would be without travel, I couldn’t tell you.
For me it’s both a mindset and a lifestyle.
And I couldn’t imagine any better way to spend my life than travelling and seeing as much of this wild world as I possibly can.
